Switch and Jumper Settings

Various switch, jumper, slot order and settings are listed below.

DELQA Switch Settings

      DELQA and DELQA-PLUS (DELQA-YM) Switch Settings

========================================================================

   The DELQA is a Q-bus Ethernet adapter. The usual cabinet kit
provides a 10Base5 (AUI) connector. The DELQA replaces the obsolete
DEQNA.

   The standard DELQA (M7516) and the DELQA-PLUS, also known as the
DELQA-YM, "DELQA-T", and "DELQA Turbo" (M7516-YM), use the same hardware
but different firmware.

========================================================================

   The 5-position switch sets the mode and CSR address.

      Switch 1: CSR: closed: CSR = 17774440 (Default)
                            open: CSR = 17774460

      Switch 2: Reserved: closed (default)

      Switch 3: Mode: closed: Normal mode (Default)
      Switch 4: Option closed: MOP remote boot disabled (Default)
                            open: MOP remote boot enabled

      Switch 3: Mode: open: DEQNA-lock (compatibility) mode
      Switch 4: Option closed: Sanity timer disabled
                            open: Sanity timer enabled

   DELQA:
      Switch 5: Reserved: closed  (Default)

   DELQA-YM:
      Switch 5: T-mode: closed: DELQA-T mode enabled (Default)
                            open: DELQA-T mode disabled

   The "sanity timer" may also be called the "host inactivity timer".

DELQA Ethernet Cable Kit

 DELQA (DEQNA?) Ethernet Cabinet Kit Cable

   This document describes the cabinet kit for a DELQA Q-bus Ethernet
interface board. The kit comprises the AUI connector and fuse assembly
at the bulkhead panel, and the cable from the bulkhead panel to the
DELQA board.

   The kit for a DEQNA was similar, and this one would probably work for
a DEQNA, too.

   The connector at the board end of the cable is a 2x12 position,
0.1-inch pitch female. The corresponding connector on the DELQA
(M7516[YM]) is a 2x10 male. The outer two pairs of hole on the female
connector are unused, but the male connector accomodates the 2x12 female
connector. The pin numbers shown below are for the 2x10-pin male
connector on the board. The AUI connector is a DB15-S (female). The
fuse on the bulkhead panel near the AUI connector is a 1.5A, 25V,
slow-blow.

   The cable is double shielded. "Bare" is the inner shield. The outer
shield is connected to the bulkhead panel near the AUI connector.

   As the author (dimly) recalls, the DEQNA cabinet kit cable had one
fewer wire, presumably not a very important one.

DEQNA Jumper Settings

EQNA Jumper Settings

========================================================================

   The DEQNA (M7504) is a Q-bus Ethernet adapter. The usual cabinet kit
provides a 10Base5 (AUI) connector.

   The DEQNA is obsolete (even by Q-bus standards), troublesome, and not
supported by VMS since about V5.4. A compatible card, the DELQA,
replaces the DEQNA.

========================================================================

   Jumper W1 sets the CSR address.
      Right two pins: CSR = 17774440 (Default)
      Left two pins: CSR = 17774460

   Jumper W2 controls a fair-access timer which provides a delay before
   re-requesting the Q-bus.
      Installed: No fair-access wait
      Removed: 5 microsecond fair-access wait (Default)

   Jumper W3 disables the sanity timer.
      Installed: Sanity timer disabled  (Default)
      Removed:   Sanity timer enabled

TK50 Jumper and Switch Settings

TQK50 Jumper and Switch Settings

========================================================================

   The TQK50 (M7546) is a Q-bus controller for a TK50 tape (CompacTape
(tm)) drive. It has two DIP switch sets (hardware revision level and
unit number) and one jumper set (CSR address).

========================================================================

   The hardware revision level DIP switch is set to match the module
revision level, which is stamped on the back of the module. The eight
switches represent a binary value: open = 0, closed = 1.

      Revision             Switch

   The unit number DIP switch is similar:
